In 2008, I went in Perigord with my parents during the Holiday, in october. We went to Sarlat, next Bordeaux. It took maybe 8 hours to come, I don’t remember too much.
Sarlat is a charming town. There are quite a few blocks, there are climbs, descents, lots of little streets where there are small shops are nice as a store of puppets witches but also some exclusive shops.

It is a pretty medieval town very pleasant to visit because there are few cars (especially in the old city). You can find many works of art in the city as a bronze boy looking at you from the top of a wall on top of a climb or the trio of geese in the middle of a small square which are funny ! Everything is beautiful to see, art is hidden in every corner, like the food!
We eat very well in Sarlat, I enjoy the fact that we were on vacation with my parents to order what I wanted (they agreed!) so I have no hesitation before cappuccino accompanied by large waffles at whipped cream. It's even there I ate for the first time the goat-hot with honey! A treat!
To complete my happiness, it was necessary to combine food and film and this was right. Indeed around Sarlat is a lot of medieval castles and most are used for movies, for exterior views and / or outside, as the Visitors (Les Visiteurs) french movie, The Messenger: The Story of Joan of Arc or Ever After with Drew Barrymore! I really enjoyed to visite all these places, some of them better preserved than others. It also allowed me to discover a celebrity unknown to me: Josephine Baker! I remember with my parents we wanted to go to a place but it was unusually closed so we went into this one. It was beautiful, there were several rooms only for the dresses she wore on stage and her famous banana belt. It is also a place where you can see a bird show and I can say that it weighs his weight on one forearm!
Unfortunately that day and all the others it has rained a lot. I also have no photos to show even if I take more than 50 per day (we stayed one week!) because the HDD from my old computer was not working, but I keep all these beautiful Sarlat’s picture in my mind, hopping to return as soon as possible!
Yeaaaah ! Perigord is very nice !!!! =D I went to Perigord when i was younger, with my family. We also went in Sarlat, it was wonderful. I hope i can go an other time in this city =)
